PARENTAL INFORMATION

WHAT ARE MY RESPONSIBILITIES AS A PARENT?

Ensure that you bring your child to the event ON TIME or earlier. The meetings will start on time.  It is not fair to those who arrived on time and are ready for the meeting to start if  the host is delayed or interrupted due to having to deal with latecomers.   This habit also does not set a good example for your child to see and experience now or in their future.

***See the full list of Parent Rules below

NerdyGirlz Parent Rules

(Host is Akiba Thompson, there may be other leaders or guests also leading the entire meeting/event or part of the meeting or event)

NOTE:  The following list of rules is provided to ensure that your child has a great experience during the entire allocated time of the meetings and events.

INTRODUCTION

All people in attendance at a NerdyGirlz meeting (parents, host, guest hosts and NerdyGirlz) are representing the NerdyGirlz Book Club.  It is important that everyone acts in a respectful, professional, caring and considerate manner.  In doing this, it also teaches the members proper behavior in public from not only others, but also you, their parent, and allows your child to have a wonderful, educational and fun experience.

PLEASE:

  • Make sure your child is in NerdyForm for all meetings and especially special events. This includes:  NerdyGirlz t-shirt, water bottle, Nerdy glassez, badge.

  • Please allow ample time to get to the meeting/event.  Use GPS if unsure of directions. The host will be unable to answer phone calls or text messages to give directions once the meeting/event has started.

  • Ensure that you drop your child off at the designated location on time or at least 10 minutes before the start time and make sure they use the restroom before the meeting starts.

  • Do not use profanity at any meetings or events. Set a professional, considerate adult standard for the children.

  • Do not disrupt the meeting or event by talking loud to fellow parents or others unless specifically asked a question where everyone needs to hear it.

  • Do not gossip or talk about members or parents in what could be perceived as negative.

  • Do not disrupt the meeting/event if you receive a phone call.  Take phone calls away from the actual meeting area.

  • Keep other children not participating busy, quiet and under physical and vocal control at all times

  • Do not bring sick children to the meeting or event (see waiver)

  • Be on time to pick up your child once the meeting is over.

  • Check social media and the website for cancellations of the meeting or event due to unforeseen situations such as bad weather, etc.

  • Remember that everyone is paying for this club and the children deserve for the host to be available to those that arrived on time so they can get the most out of the time spent.  Let’s ensure that the children have a quality, enlightening, fun nerdy experience for the required duration of the meeting/event.
